Data Back Up and Restoration for your mobile device

As all of us use mobile devices I’d like to share with you some recommendations in order to keep your contacts, app, pictures and other data backed up and safe should you ever have problems with your phone and need them restored.   Instructions are divided between those using the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Apples iphone 6.

For Galaxy S5 users

1.)Samsung Kies:

Kies is a lot of things. It's a way to sync and backup your contacts and device data, it's an ideal for transferring media like music and video between your computer and your phone and it's also a great  method to update the device firmware on Samsung phones.  Below is a link for more information on Kies.

2.)Samsung back-up and recovery (required gmail account) :

Google’s owns the Android operating system so it has its own backup data tools that can be synced with your Google account.  These can be used for your contacts, apps, and other media.  If you’re signed in to your Google account on your Android smartphone, your contacts and apps,  are usually synced with your Gmail account. In the event that it isn’t synced, head over to Settings > Accounts > Google > Your Google Account and make sure the contacts and apps field is checked.

3.)Samsung back up with installed app:

This back up data to your existing SD card and can be swapped into a new device.   Steps for doing this is below:

Now on to iPhone users:

As an iPhone user many of you are used to using itunes to back up the content of your phone and as a repository for your music, apps and other media.   You can also use the icloud service to back up data from your phone and retrieve it wirelessly.

1.)iTunes:

iTunes not only works as a medial player and library but it also works as a mobile device management application.   It is the ideal tool for storing a backup of all of the information on your iphone.

2.) iCloud

iCloud is a great tool to store contacts, calendars photos, music, books, apps and more in the cloud and access them on all your devices.  It’s also a great way to restore this information on your phone should anything happen to it.

Below is a link telling you the steps to use both iTunes and iCloud for phone back up and restoration.
