The GAL is frequently updated, but by default Outlook only shows the Offline GAL. This is a cached copy of the GAL and may be slightly out of date. If you prefer to always see the full, live version of the GAL, you can change that setting.
1. Open Outlook
2. Open the Address Book
3. Under the Tools menu, go to Options...
4. There are two settings here you can change
When sending e-mail, check address lists in this order:
This option will determine how to validate the addresses as you type them. If you have a lot of people stored in Contacts, you may want to start with Contacts. If you don't store any information in your own Contacts, you may want to start with Global Address List.
When opening the address book, show this address list first:
The default is Offline Global Address List. You can set this to Global Address List to always use the live version.
