Moving an Extension

Disconnecting an Extension

To disassociate the handset with the port, hit * 3 6 *. The phone will beep twice and the display will change to read:

NoUser

0000

...where "0000" will be the old extension associated with the handset. You can now unplug the phone.

Connecting an Extension

When you first plug in the phone to the wall, it will say NoUser, along with the old extension associated with that port. Make a note of the old extension, as you will need that in the next step. To associate the handset with the new port, hit * 3 5 * 0 0 0 0 * 0 0 0 0 # where underlined 0's are the four digit extension. The phone should beep twice and the display will read:

First Last

0000

...with the user's first and last name and correct extension.

Updating Avaya IP Office Manager

Next you have to update the port information on the server. To do this, remote desktop in to TEL-SERVER under the useadmin login. Double-click the Manager icon on the desktop.

Hit the Open configuration from IP Office button on the toolbar; it should be the first button. In the Select IP Office window, select AmericanFarm and hit OK. Login as Administrator.

Go to the Extension node. At this point you will need to swap the extensions for the two ports you changed.

  1. Search for the user's extension. Edit the record, overwriting the user's extension with the old extension you noted from the second step.
  2. At this point there will be two records for the old extension. Edit the other record, overwriting the old extension with the user's extension.
  3. Hit OK in the bottom right.

Hit the Save Configuration File button in the toolbar. It will prompt you validate the configuration before saving. Hit Yes.

It will take a few seconds and then give you a Send Configuration window. Make sure Merge is selected and hit OK. It will prompt you for the Administrator password again.

The system will then go back to its start screen. You can now exit.

Verifying the Ports in IP Office System Status

To make sure the extensions were ported correctly, double-click the System Status icon on the TEL-SERVER desktop and log in as Administrator.

Find the user in the Current User Name column. Verify that the Home Extension Number matches the Current User Extension column. These are the first two columns. If these do not match, then troubleshoot the problem.

At this point, you are done. You can log off TEL-SERVER.
